Methodology Note
The CDC's Social Vulnerability Index (SVI) uses U.S. Census variables to identify communities that may need support before, during, or after disasters. Scores range from 0.0 (lowest vulnerability) to 1.0 (highest vulnerability). Under the Federal Justice40 Initiative, 40% of the overall benefits of certain Federal investments must flow to disadvantaged communities (defined here as communities with high vulnerability scores, including Tampa and Plant City census divisions).
